There are many composers who are remembered for one particular work and this piece is a good example of that category. Many people will recognise the theme at once but cannot put a title or composer to it. La Cinquantaine, meaning The Golden Wedding, was written by a French composer named Gabriel Marie and it has a pleasant and appealing theme which will make a nice contrast to any concert programme. The music is very suitable for wind band as it contains passages which calls for the different characteristics of woodwind and brass. |
