Metamorphōsis

Infos :

Metamorphōsis explores the idea of spiritual transformation in a broad, non-denominational sense. Rather than referring to a specific religious narrative, the piece is concerned with the phenomenological experience of inner change: a process of transfiguration, awakening, and illumination as a universal human condition.

The music begins in a state of restless motion. Energetic, sharp, and highly driven, the opening is characterized by constant flow and a sense of instability. The musical material does not settle; instead, it pushes forward with urgency and tension, creating an atmosphere of continuous transformation rather than fixed identity.

Throughout this opening section, brief references to the Dies irae appear like fleeting shadows. These fragments do not function as quotations in a traditional sense; rather, they pass by ephemerally, as distant memories or archetypal traces that momentarily surface and disappear again.

Following a short phase of disorientation, the musical landscape gradually begins to clarify. Gestures become more focused, broader harmonic fields open up, and the music slowly transitions from agitation toward coherence. This process is not abrupt but unfolds organically, suggesting an inner realignment rather than a sudden revelation.

The final section represents a state of awakening. The sound becomes increasingly luminous, warm, and present. Density and clarity coexist, creating a full, resonant sonority that feels grounded and serene. The overall impression is one of arrival: a transformation completed, not through triumph, but through clarity and openness.
