Infos :

Sighs of Spain (Suspiros de Espana) is a popular Spanish paso doble. It was composed by Alvarez Alonso in 1902. The pasodoble was originally a walking march of the Royal Infantry (paso-doble) that was popularized as a concert piece and later as a dance in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Álvarez Alonso offered concerts animating the evenings at the La Palma Valenciana café, on the Calle Mayor de Cartagena. One night, at the end of his performance, he taught her friends a pasodoble melody that he had written on a coffee table, and he was soon welcomed with delight. In his nocturnal tour, he stopped in front of the cafe of his performances and observing a typical jam called "sighs" (caramelized hazelnuts), he was inspired to baptize "Sighs of Spain" his new score.
